Step into the role of Project Manager 1 and join our Development Bureau at the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation, where we lead the charge on all IDPR-related building and maintenance projects. From enhancing campgrounds to constructing welcoming visitor centers, our bureau is dedicated to elevating the visitor experience and preserving Idaho's natural beauty.

As a Project Manager 1 within our Development Bureau, you'll play a pivotal role in administering project budgets, overseeing design and construction, and ensuring the excellence of our parks' infrastructure. Collaborating closely with park staff, you'll establish project goals and schedules, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with design professionals and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Based out of our Headquarters Office in Boise, ID, you'll have access to a dynamic and supportive work environment. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

  • Review and evaluate assigned projects with park staff to establish project goals and schedule.
  • Establish a comprehensive project budget reflective of the appropriated funding and project challenges.
  • Negotiate and administer design and construction contracts per state statues, and review for permitting requirements, such as environmental, federal, and cultural clearance.
  • Coordinate the activities of the design professional team and project stake holders to reach the established project goals.
  • Coordinate the advertising and bidding.
  • Attending construction meetings, reviewing construction site activities, evaluating construction correspondence, contracts and changing orders to deliver projects within budget and on time.
  • Develop relationships w/ park staff (gain knowledge of specific buildings and build a base of knowledge for future projects; how each park likes to operate, how particular building systems work, and which consultants may be best suited for future projects). Assist with preparation of budget requests for future projects, furniture, grants, etc.
  • Review existing buildings and plans for ADA compliance.
  • Review facility conditions to recommend required maintenance and upgrades.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Planning and implementing design and construction projects including coordinating the development of project scope, goals, work plans, timelines, implementation strategies, and measurement processes/methods for assessing progress toward goals and project outcomes.
  • Interpreting and explaining specialized or complex material into information usable by the public.
  • Developing and monitoring contracts.

SPECIALTY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • Developing construction requirements for commercial buildings.
  • Reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • An Accredited Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture; OR at least eight years of practical work experience as Construction Manager or a Landscape Architect-in-training, Architect-in-training, or Engineer-in-training where at least 50% of the practical work experience was under the supervision of the appropriate licensed design professional.
